Organizing Hair Accessories

My Pinterest inspiration for the first part of organizing my hair accessories and make-up drawer was from this pin:
I have a lot of hair ties and sometimes it's hard to find a certain color or even just a black one in the current black hole drawer. I went on the search to find carabiner clips, and the cheapest I could find out and about were about $2.00 a piece. Since I wanted two or three of them, this option could add up fast. So I came up with a more cost effective solution. Shower curtain rings. I found a pack of 10 for $1.25 at Family Dollar. That makes each ring about 12 cents! Now I can easily find any color and have them all in one place.

The next part of organizing was to get all of my bobby pins out of the bottom of my drawer and into some organized container. My next project was inspired from this Pinterest pin:
I really thought this was an ingenious idea. The bobby pins fit perfectly in the Tic-Tac container and with the opening that is already in the container, the bobby pins are easy to get to. The only problem I have with this solution is the cost. I paid $1.27 per container of Tic-Tacs. I thought Tic-Tacs cost like 50 cents? I was not aware of the Tic-Tac inflation epidemic.

My first two Pinterest projects were pretty successful. To be fair this was an easy start. I will post my final storage solution for my hair accessories and make-up drawer and the new and improved look for the drawer in my next post.

Week 1 Theme...

When you walk into someone's house and everything has it's place and everything is so clean, it's annoying right? Some might have this opinion of me and my house, but I am here to tell you behind every closed door and every shut cabinet there lurks a hot mess. Don't judge.

For this week's Pinterest Theme I am going to tackle organizing my hair accessories drawer and makeup. Seems like an easy start to the challenge, until you see the mess I am dealing with...

Again, don't judge. I am hoping with some Pinterest Inspiration I can get this clutter under control. Maybe even be able to find my mascara in the hoards of makeup bags, and possibly find a home in that drawer. Wishful thinking. And the good news is, it can't get much worse than this. So it will have to be a Pinterest success.

Intro to the Challenge

Pinterest is the new social standard for showing your social network all the things you like but will never end up doing, I am here to put an end to pointless pinning. Spending all your time pinning things you like to do or try and never actually having time to do anything because you wasted your day on Pinterest, pinning.

I have challenged myself for the next 52 weeks, one entire year, to make\attempt at least one Pinterest item a week. This could be something as easy as pinning my hair up to building a house out of straw and hay.

Each Sunday I will post the theme for the week, and during the week I will post my pathetic attempts to my Pinterest creations. Hopefully we see more Pinterest successes than Pinterest fails, either way they will be posted for the whole world to criticize.

Feel free to comment or recommend pins along the way. This is going to be one creative year.
